Konarka Selected by AlwaysOn as GoingGreen 100 Top Private Company Award Winner

Recognized for Leadership in Clean Technology and Global Business Potential

Lowell, Mass. – Sept. 12 2007 – Konarka Technologies, Inc., an innovator in development and commercialization of PowerPlastic®, a material that converts light to energy, today announced it has been chosen by AlwaysOn, the first media brand to launch a global blog network, as one of the GoingGreen 100 Top Private Companies for 2007. The first annual elite GoingGreen 100 list was compiled by the AlwaysOn editorial panel. To be eligible for the GoingGreen 100 list, companies had to be peer-nominated. AlwaysOn received more than 500 nominations from venture investors, investment bankers and other industry experts.

“The AlwaysOn GoingGreen 100 companies will accelerate the global movement to a more sustainable environment,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “The ideas and innovation we saw in reviewing hundreds of clean technology companies will be foundational to the next wave of economic growth in California and beyond. My congratulations to each AlwaysOn GoingGreen 100 winner — these are the companies which we predict will have the greatest market traction, strongest innovation and most game-changing approaches this year."

Konarka and other GoingGreen 100 Top Private Companies for 2007 were honored at AlwaysOn GoingGreen at the University of California in Davis on September 10-12, 2007. GoingGreen is a two-and-a-half-day executive gathering that highlights the significant impact clean technologies have on new economic growth and in sustainable use of natural resources. The idea behind the GoingGreen 100 top private companies list is to identify the most promising entrepreneurial opportunities and investments in the clean technology industry.

“We are delighted to be part of the elite GoingGreen 100 list, recognized for our leadership in clean technology and global business potential,” commented Rick Hess, president and CEO of Konarka. “We believe strongly in the business and growth opportunities of the clean technology industry, and we are proud to be a part of this influential list of companies making a positive environmental impact.”
